The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted a winter season with below-average rainfall across the country. According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz Khan, the situation will be particularly dry in Balochistan, where no rainfall is expected throughout December.
Looking ahead, Khan mentioned that a rain system could develop in early January, potentially bringing some rain and snow to northern Balochistan. However, for the remainder of the winter, precipitation levels are predicted to stay below normal, which could have a negative impact on water resources and agriculture in the region.

In the meantime, the northern parts of Pakistan continue to experience heavy snowfall, creating a picturesque winter landscape. Quetta has reported temperatures dropping to as low as minus 4°C, with cold winds making their way down to Karachi, which is also feeling the chill.
The PMD has issued warnings about severe cold conditions lasting at least until December 14, with cold winds affecting areas from Karachi to Khyber. The northern regions, including Malam Jabba, Kalam in Swat, and Murree, are experiencing significant snowfall. While Murree briefly had a break, tourists are still able to enjoy the views.
In Shogran, around 300 tourists were recently rescued due to intense snowfall. The Galiyat region remains a popular spot for tourists, as the snowfall adds to its beauty. However, the PMD has issued a security alert for Murree and Galiyat to ensure visitors’ safety.
