Govt introduces special Hajj passport services, reduced airfare for

The Director-General of Passports has announced the establishment of special counters for Hajj pilgrims, designed to ensure they receive their passports within 24 hours.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the Director-General, confirmed that these dedicated desks will be available at all regional passport offices, including the headquarters, as well as at passport offices worldwide. Pilgrims will receive priority service at these counters, ensuring prompt delivery of their passports.

In a significant move to reduce the cost of Hajj for 2025, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has secured a major reduction in airfare for pilgrims.

Airfare Reduction for Hajj Pilgrims

In a bid to make Hajj more affordable, airfare for each pilgrim has been reduced by $50 compared to last year. In 2024, the cost of a ticket was set at $850, but it has now been lowered to $800 for the 35,000 pilgrims travelling with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Saudi Airlines will also be responsible for transporting another 35,000 pilgrims.

This reduction is part of the Ministry’s ongoing effort to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, particularly as travel and accommodation costs have surged in recent years. The price drop will help make Hajj more accessible to Pakistani citizens.

Applications Open for Hajj 2025

The application process for the 2025 Government Hajj Scheme officially began today, with the application window open until December 3. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has designated 15 nominated banks across the country for submission of applications.

A total of 89,605 quotas have been allocated to Pakistani pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj season. Applicants must submit an initial deposit of Rs200,000 along with their application. Following a draw on December 6, pilgrims will be required to pay the second instalment of their Hajj fees. The final balance must be cleared between February 1st and 10th, 2025.

The Government Hajj Scheme offers a comprehensive package that includes air tickets, accommodation, meals, training, and necessary vaccinations for all pilgrims.
