Pakistani singer Atif Aslam recently found himself at the center of a viral controversy over claims that he refused to perform in Saudi Arabia, citing religious sentiments as his reason.
Social media platforms and entertainment outlets quickly circulated the unverified rumor, suggesting that Aslam had allegedly said, “My heart cannot accept performing near holy places.”
In response, Aslam set the record straight through an official statement to journalist Maliha Rehman, clarifying that the claims were entirely baseless.

“It’s amusing and strange to see statements I never made being attributed to me,” he said, emphasizing the importance of verifying information before sharing it widely.
“Media and artists should ensure that statements are accurate before reporting or commenting,” he added.
Aslam further noted that he has previously performed in Riyadh, which itself reflects his views on performing in Saudi Arabia.
With a career spanning nearly two decades, Atif Aslam remains one of Pakistan’s most celebrated artists, known for popular Bollywood hits like Dil Diyan Gallan, Tere Sang Yaara, and Tu Jaane Na.
His clarification brings an end to the recent speculation, highlighting the need for responsible media coverage.
