Education boards across Pakistan, including those in the Rawalpindi Division, have raised the examination fees for Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) students.
This change, effective for the 2025 exams, has sparked worries among families already burdened by educational expenses.
Under the new fee structure, private candidates will now pay Rs5,000, while regular students are set to pay Rs4,800. For arts students, the breakdown includes Rs1,400 for regular students and Rs1,500 for private candidates.

Science students will be charged Rs1,500 if regular and Rs1,600 if private.
The total fees also include additional charges. Every student must pay a registration fee, a certificate fee, and a processing fee, each costing Rs1,000.
An extra Rs700 is charged for development, scholarship, and postal services, while students transferring from other boards must pay Rs1,000 for a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Key deadlines for fee submission have been announced: November 27 for single fees, December 11 for double fees, and December 24 for triple fees.
Late entries with a Rs200 daily fine are allowed until February 11, increasing to Rs700 per day until February 21, 2025.
Parents like Nadeem Asghar and Faisal Mufti argue that the government should shoulder educational costs, fearing this increase will make education unaffordable for low-income families.
