The much-anticipated Apple iPhone 16 has officially arrived, but it comes with a price tag higher than ever. In Pakistan, the cost of owning the flagship device goes beyond the retail price, with hefty PTA taxes adding a significant amount to the total cost.
The tax for registering an iPhone 16 varies based on the registration method. For the iPhone 16, the PTA tax is Rs. 107,325 when registered with a passport and Rs. 130,807 when using a CNIC.
For the iPhone 16 Plus, the tax stands at Rs. 113,075 for passport registration and Rs. 137,033 with a CNIC. For the iPhone 16 Pro, the tax is Rs. 135,300 with a passport and Rs. 161,480 with a CNIC.

For the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the PTA tax is Rs. 148,500 for passport holders and Rs. 176,000 for those registering with a CNIC. Despite the high costs, excitement around the iPhone 16 remains strong, largely due to its impressive new features.
The device introduces AI-powered capabilities, faster charging speeds with up to 25W via MagSafe and 45W with wired charging, and enhanced camera specs.
The iPhone 16 series, which includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, also supports Wi-Fi 7 and features new Spatial Photos and Videos for an immersive experience, especially when paired with other Apple gadgets.
