Sazgar Engineering to Launch ORA-07 EV in Pakistan Soon

Sazgar Engineering Works (SAZEW) is set to introduce the ORA-07 EV, a new Completely Built Unit (CBU) electric vehicle, to the Pakistani market in the near future.

The company announced the forthcoming launch and the start of bookings for the ORA-07 EV in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.

The ORA 07 is part of the Great Wall Motors (GWM) sub-brand, known for its electric vehicles. GWM’s portfolio also includes brands such as Haval, Ora, and Tank, alongside the tech firm Salon Mecha Technology Co., Ltd.

This announcement follows Sazgar’s earlier move into the electric vehicle sector with the locally assembled Haval Jolion HEV, which began pre-booking in April. Sazgar, a prominent manufacturer of rickshaws in Pakistan, also exports these vehicles and has previously introduced the Chinese car brand BAIC to the Pakistani market, featuring models like the D20, X25 crossover, and BJ40-Plus SUV.

The electric vehicle sector in Pakistan is in its early stages but shows promising growth. Recently, Chinese automaker BYD announced its entry into the Pakistani market, with a brand launch scheduled for August 17.
