The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has introduced a new policy for Pakistani students seeking admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs overseas, effective from the 2024-2025 academic year.
To qualify for admission under the new PMDC policy, students must meet one of the following criteria:
- Secure at least 60% marks in FSC (Pre-Medical) from Pakistan.
- Score a minimum of 550 in each subject of SAT-II.
- Pass a foreign MCAT/UCAT with at least 50% marks in Biology, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Physics in a Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
The policy also mandates that students score at least 50% in the MDCAT, which remains valid for three years for those who complete their intermediate education in Pakistan.

The medical qualification must be in allopathic medicine from an institution recognized by the relevant regulatory body and accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) or listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
Furthermore, students need a PMDC Student Registration Certificate before starting their studies, with the medical program requiring at least 6,200 hours of instruction over five years and 80% attendance.
Students must spend at least six months learning the local language in non-English-speaking countries. They must also pass the PMDC’s National Registration Examination to gain full registration.
Moreover, students need to provide their residence details and contact numbers for their study country and obtain a multiple-entry visa valid for the entire study period before going abroad.
