Govt Announces Extension in Summer Vacations

The Sindh government has extended summer vacations for all schools in the province until August 14 due to ongoing weather conditions.

The Sindh Education Department has issued a notification extending the summer break until August 14, with the new academic year set to begin on August 15. Both private and government schools will remain closed until then.

“The summer vacation[s] are hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department till 14.08.2024 in the wake of the heat-wave and expected monsoon rains,” the statement read.

The extension of the summer break was decided by Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah due to the severe heat and anticipated monsoon rains in the region.

Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that educational institutions will hold Independence Day events on August 14.

It should be recalled that the provincial government had announced summer vacations from June 01 to July 31, 2024. Now, due to the increasing temperature, the summer break has been extended by two weeks across the province.
