Kirsten and Mahmood Level Serious Allegations Against Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has been accused of misconduct by coaches Gary Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood.

A report submitted to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by Kirsten, and as reported by Samaa News, highlights Afridi’s poor behavior starting from the T20I series against Ireland and continuing through the T20 World Cup 2024.

The report has alleged that Afridi displayed bad behavior during the T20I series against Ireland and England, as well as the T20 World Cup. Despite these accusations, no action was taken, and Afridi continued to misbehave.

He has also been accused of lobbying. These allegations could significantly impact Pakistan cricket, as Afridi is a crucial player for the national team.

If the claims are proven true, his future with the team may be in jeopardy. Pakistan, the 2009 T20 World Champions, were expected to perform well in the T20 World Cup 2024.

However, they were eliminated early after losing to the USA and India. Afridi, who was made captain of the T20I side after Babar Azam stepped down, couldn’t lead the team to success.

Following a series loss against New Zealand, Babar was reinstated as captain, but the team’s performance did not improve. The PCB has not yet made an official statement about the allegations.

However, the board recently announced that former cricketers Abdur Razzaq and Wahab Riaz have been removed from their roles in the selection committee.
