According to the latest data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), car sales in April 2024 showed a remarkable increase compared to the same period last year. The number of cars sold surged to 10,515 units, which is more than double the 4,483 units sold in April of the previous year. In comparison to March 2024, there was a 12.1% increase in sales, with 9,379 cars sold.
However, the overall sales for the first ten months of the fiscal year 2024, ending in April, amounted to 79,593 units, reflecting a significant decrease of 31.0% compared to the 115,381 units sold during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Specifically, passenger car sales experienced a notable increase of 3.1 times year-on-year, reaching 8,873 units compared to 2,844 units in April of the previous year. Production of passenger cars also saw a substantial rise to 6,805 units in May, marking an 82.0% surge compared to the 3,740 units manufactured in the corresponding month last year.
Analyzing the breakdown of sales, it is evident that the majority of passenger car purchases were in the ‘Below 1000cc’ category, with 5,023 units sold in April 2024. The Suzuki Alto emerged as the top-selling model in this category, with 4,786 units sold, followed by the Suzuki Bolan with 237 units.

In the ‘1300cc and Above’ category, there were robust sales of 3,212 units during the review month. Toyota (Corolla & Yaris) led the sales in this segment with 1,722 units, followed by Honda Cars (Civic & City) with 956 units, Suzuki Swift with 328 units, and Hyundai Elantra with 111 units.

Moreover, the ‘1000 cc’ segment witnessed a total sale of 638 units in April 2024. The Suzuki Cultus secured the top spot in this segment with 320 units sold, closely followed by the Suzuki WagonR with 318 units.
