Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, declared on Saturday that the government would keep the cost of petroleum goods the same.
The finance minister stated in his video message that prices will remain unchanged from January 16 to January 31. This decision could draw criticism from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“We are not changing the prices. The price of petrol will remain at Rs214.80, diesel will remain at Rs227.80, price of kerosene oil to remain at Rs171.83 while light diesel oil will remain at Rs179,” said the minister.
On December 15, the government last reduced the cost of petroleum products by up to Rs 10 a litre.
