The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Ajmal Chandio and Higher Education Department (HED) Secretary Dr. Farrukh Naveed.
Officials discussed the scheme’s rules and procedures, with directives to expedite the process, finalize the online application portal, and announce key dates for application reviews and merit list publication.
In the first phase, laptops will be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. To qualify, BS students must have secured at least 65% in their intermediate exams, while medical students need a minimum of 80%.
The minister stressed the importance of a smooth implementation process and instructed authorities to complete all necessary preparations without delay.
Additionally, he emphasized the timely launch of the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, aimed at further supporting students in their academic pursuits.
The laptop scheme is part of the Punjab government’s broader initiative to integrate technology into education and provide equal learning opportunities. By equipping students with digital tools, the government aims to promote academic excellence and bridge the digital divide in higher education.
