Pakistan and the US finished their security level discussions in Washington on Wednesday, just days before their foreign policy heads meet in New York.
Lt-Gen Nadeem Anjum, Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI), spent three days in Washington this week meeting with key security officials, including US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and CIA Director William J. Burns.
However, the details of the meetings have not been revealed.
The details of these discussions were not published, but they are said to have focused on bilateral security problems and the situation in Afghanistan, as the US feels Pakistan can assist in stabilising the war-torn country.
The two countries’ most recent security talks took place in July 2021, when then-National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf met with Mr. Sullivan at the White House. Former ISI chief Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed was also part of the Pakistani delegation.
