Govt Ends Job Quota for Deceased Civil Servants’ Relatives

The Punjab Government has changed the Civil Servant Rules, including removing Rule 17A from the 1974 regulations. This is a significant update to the rules for civil servants in the province.

Previously, Rule 17A allowed the children or spouse of a deceased civil servant to get a government job under a special quota.

The removal of this rule means that relatives of civil servants who have died in service will no longer have the right to government jobs through the service quota.

This change represents a major policy shift, impacting families who once depended on this provision for job security after losing a loved one who was a government employee.
