The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for increased monsoon rainfall, expected to be 35% above normal.
Starting July 1, Punjab will see significant rain, with the heaviest expected in the fourth week of July. According to the PDMA, the province will see about 15 to 50 mm rain in the first week of the next month.
The second week is expected to bring 25 to 35 mm of monsoon rain, while the third week might see 15 to 25 mm in upper and southern Punjab. The heaviest rainfall is forecasted for the fourth week of July, with 50 to 70 mm expected.

The entire region, including upper, central, and southern Punjab, is likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
The PDMA has raised concerns about potential urban flooding and hill torrents in southern Punjab due to the excessive rainfall. In response to directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, all relevant departments have been placed on high alert to address the situation.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has directed the district administrations to take proactive measures before the monsoon rains begin. He stressed the urgency of completing drainage system cleaning and maintaining water channels to prevent flooding and minimize damage.
