The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another spell of monsoon rains across large parts of the country from July 29 to August 5 and warned of urban flooding, flash floods, landslides, and travel disruptions.
The PMD issued the weather advisory on Monday and said monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will enter the upper and central parts of Pakistan from July 29. The department also said a westerly wave will strengthen over northern areas from August 1.

The PMD expects rain and thunderstorms, including scattered heavy to very heavy downpours, in Kashmir, Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the forecast period. The department also expects rain in southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, with isolated moderate to heavy showers in several districts.
The PMD warned that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad between July 30 and August 4. The department also warned that similar flooding could affect Nawabshah, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allahyar from July 31 to August 2.
The PMD warned that flash floods could hit local streams and nullahs in Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, and northeastern Balochistan. The department also warned that landslides could block roads in vulnerable mountainous areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
The PMD urged tourists and travelers to remain cautious. The department also advised farmers to plan agricultural activities according to the weather forecast and protect their livestock. It urged all concerned authorities to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to reduce the impact of the expected weather system.
