The Sindh government has announced that all public and private schools across the province will remain closed on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, on account of Shab e Barat.
The School Education and Literacy Department issued the notification on January 30, 2026, after the Steering Committee on Education approved the decision during its subcommittee meeting held on November 28, 2024.

According to the notification, the closure will apply to all public and private schools operating under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh.
The department has instructed relevant authorities to ensure the decision is implemented in letter and spirit and that the notification is clearly communicated to all educational institutions across the province.
Shab e Barat is observed on the 15th of Shaban and holds religious significance for Muslims, who mark the occasion with prayers and other religious activities.
