Pakistani universities secured multiple nominations in the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2026, placing the country alongside regional peers in a competitive field led by Thailand, India, and Hong Kong.
Thailand received 16 nominations, followed by India with 12, while Hong Kong institutions appeared nine times. In its eighth edition, the awards drew more than 500 entries across 10 categories. Judges shortlisted 80 finalists representing 17 countries and territories.

From Pakistan, Beaconhouse National University and Lahore University of Management Sciences earned nominations in multiple categories. Beaconhouse National University made the shortlist for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership and Research Project of the Year in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Lahore University of Management Sciences received nominations for Outstanding Support for Students and Research Project of the Year in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Several universities appeared multiple times across categories. Hiroshima University of Japan and India’s IIMT University led with five nominations each. Seoul National University, Lovely Professional University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University appeared four times each.
Times Higher Education editor Chris Havergal said the entries reflect the diversity and strength of higher education across Asia, highlighting achievements in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
The Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2026 winners will be announced on April 22 in Hong Kong, coinciding with the opening of the THE Asia Universities Summit, hosted in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
