The Australian government has eased the visa process for eligible applicants in Pakistan by allowing them to submit key identity information through the new Australian Immi App. The feature enables users to provide their passport details and a facial image directly from their smartphone, reducing part of the in-person biometric requirement.
Under the official guidelines, the app can only be used by applicants who have received a “requirement to provide personal identifiers (biometrics)” letter that contains a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) beginning with AUI or AUH. These applicants must also hold a valid passport.

Those whose VLN does not start with these prefixes must still visit an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre to complete the biometric process. To use the app, applicants need a stable internet connection and a smartphone with NFC enabled.
They must also allow the app to access the phone’s camera and location services to complete the identity verification steps. Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Tim Kane announced the update, noting that the new app option will make the visa process more convenient for eligible applicants.
He said the change will simplify the submission of required biometric information and reduce the need for in-person visits. The expansion of the Australian Immi App offers faster access and greater convenience, giving eligible Pakistani applicants a streamlined way to complete part of their visa process directly from their mobile device.
