Karachi Traffic Police will deploy robots to issue electronic challans (e-challans) as part of the city’s E-Tracks system, officials announced.
DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah said during a public event that the department has introduced a third method for issuing e-challans using robots. Starting next month, the robots will operate on major roads, including Saddar and Tariq Road, scanning vehicles for traffic and parking violations.

The robots will patrol at 20 kilometers per hour, automatically detecting vehicles breaking rules such as parking in “No Parking” or “No Two-Lane” zones. Violators will receive e-challans directly, reducing human intervention and enhancing transparency in enforcement.
Separately, the Sindh government is reviewing a proposal to lower certain traffic fines across the province. Officials said the decision is pending final approval and aims to make penalties more reasonable while maintaining road discipline.
Traffic authorities believe combining robotic enforcement with potential fine adjustments will improve compliance, ensure fair enforcement, and enhance road safety throughout Karachi.
