O and A Level Students in Pakistan Can Now Check Their Marked Papers

Cambridge International Education has introduced a new scrutiny system aimed at ensuring transparency in the examination process for O and A level students across Pakistan.

Uzma Yousuf, Director of Cambridge International Education Pakistan, said on Friday that the new system allows students to review their scrutinized exam copies if they have complaints regarding low grades. “If an error is found in marking or grading, it will be corrected and the student’s fee will also be refunded,” she explained.

According to Yousuf, schools affiliated with Cambridge now have the right, through the British Council, to provide students with access to their checked copies. Private candidates can directly approach the British Council for the same facility.

Pakistan has the largest number of Cambridge students in the world, with 130,000 enrolled across 850 affiliated schools. Of these, over 250 are located in Karachi alone. However, only about 50 schools in the country are affiliated at the primary and middle levels.

Highlighting broader education challenges, Yousuf said that children in Pakistan face a heavy curriculum load. “School bags are so heavy that some children struggle to carry them, leading to health issues,” she noted, urging a reduction in curriculum weight.

She also acknowledged that paper leaks remain a global issue but stressed that strict action has been taken to curb such practices.
