Meanwhile, Lahore is preparing to introduce electric trams as part of its effort to expand green transport options. A spokesperson for the Orange Line said electric trams have been ordered from China. Each tram is designed to run 25 to 27 kilometers after just 10 minutes of charging.
The trams will feature three compartments and can carry up to 250 passengers. The first units are currently being assembled at the Ali Town Depot.
The electric tram system will begin with a trial run on a pilot route stretching from Thokar Niaz Baig to Harbanspura.
