Two More Pakistani Airports to Get International Status

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has approved major airport upgrades across the country.

According to sources, Sukkur and Dera Ismail Khan airports will be upgraded to international standards. Sukkur Airport will see a runway expansion, while DI Khan Airport will be completely rebuilt.

The board has also approved the expansion of Rahim Yar Khan Airport. This includes infrastructure improvements and a longer runway.

Meanwhile, the federal government will decide on building a new airport in Mirpur. A feasibility study is currently underway.

All these decisions were made during the latest meeting of the PAA board.

Separately, Pakistan’s Quetta International Airport project has won the Fidic Asia Pacific Award for Engineering Excellence.

The award was given to the Quetta Runway Reconstruction project during the Fidic Asia Pacific Conference held from July 15–17 in Islamabad.

Fidic awards highlight top engineering projects and industry leadership in the Asia-Pacific region.
