NADRA Introduces New Rules for Children’s Passports

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced significant changes to its documentation policy, particularly affecting passport applications for children.

According to officials, the old B-Form will no longer be accepted when applying for a child’s passport. Instead, parents must now obtain a new Child Registration Certificate (CRC) for their children.

This move is aimed at ensuring each child has a distinct identity and to improve the accuracy and security of data in NADRA’s system.

The changes don’t stop there. NADRA has also granted legal status to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC). With this update, the FRC will now be considered a valid legal document in matters like inheritance, court proceedings, and other legal affairs. Previously, it was only used for identification purposes or visa applications.

To reflect modern family structures, NADRA has also updated the format of the FRC. The revised version now accommodates various types of family units, such as one with both parents and siblings, or a nuclear family with just a spouse and children. If a man has more than one wife, details of each marriage and related children will be listed separately.
