22 Cities in Punjab Get Free Wi-Fi

In line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s digital transformation agenda, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has doubled its free public Wi-Fi coverage across the province.

Officials say Lahore now has 430 public Wi-Fi access points—up from 230. The service, once limited to 11 districts, is now operational in 22, including Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Gujrat, Sialkot, Jhelum, Attock, Hasan Abdal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree.

Gujrat has recently been added to the expanding network, as part of ongoing upgrades to improve internet access in both urban and semi-urban areas.

According to PSCA data, over 37 million users have used the free service so far, consuming more than 905 terabytes of data—a sign of growing demand for stable and accessible internet in public places.

To support the surge in usage, the PSCA has upgraded to Wi-Fi 6 technology, promising faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connectivity in busy areas.

The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s broader strategy to bridge the digital divide and integrate smart solutions into public infrastructure.
