Pakistan’s ranking in the World Happiness Report 2025 has slipped by one position, moving from 108th to 109th. Despite the decline, the country remains ahead of India (118th) and Afghanistan (147th), the lowest-ranked nation.
The report, compiled by Gallup and its partners, evaluates happiness based on quality of life assessments from 2022 to 2024. In South Asia, Bangladesh (133rd) and Sri Lanka (134th) also rank lower than Pakistan, while Iran (99th) stands ahead despite its challenges. Meanwhile, China leads the region at 27th place.

Globally, Finland remains the happiest country, followed by Denmark and Iceland. Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Norway also feature in the top 15.
The United States has dropped to 24th, its lowest position ever, while the United Kingdom has slipped to 23rd, marking its worst ranking since 2017.
At the bottom of the list, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe rank among the least happy nations. The report highlights key factors affecting happiness, including social support, income, freedom, life expectancy, and corruption levels. It also stresses the role of community care and social bonds in overall well-being.
