A new weather system is set to bring rain to parts of Pakistan between January 31 and February 1, offering relief from the prolonged dry spell, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The extended dry weather across Punjab has led to a gradual rise in temperatures. However, Lahore and several districts in upper Punjab are expected to receive light rain in the coming days, which could briefly cool temperatures.

The rain may also help restore some winter chill, counteracting the unusually warm afternoons.
Meteorologists note that winter has been shorter this year due to climate change, resulting in fluctuating temperatures—warm days and cold nights. Lahore recorded a low of 7°C today, with the maximum temperature forecasted to reach 24°C.
Experts stress that rainfall is essential to maintaining seasonal balance and preventing further temperature increases.
Meanwhile, the demand for dry fruits has surged in Islamabad as colder weather persists. Many people use dry fruits in winter delicacies like ‘Gajar ka Halwa’ and ‘Sohan Halwa.’
Bakeries and sweet shops have also incorporated them into their products. Despite high prices, dry fruit shops continue to see a large number of customers as people seek warm and nutritious snacks during the season.
