Religious scholars in the country have issued a fatwa declaring one-wheeling, kite flying, and aerial firing as un-Islamic, emphasising the protection of human life as a core principle of Islamic teachings. The decree categorises these activities as life-threatening and akin to acts of self-harm, which are strictly prohibited in Islam.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran underscored the dangers posed by these activities, citing Islam’s prohibition of any action that endangers lives. He revealed that police have intensified their crackdown on these practices.
Over the past 20 days, 151 individuals have been arrested for one-wheeling, 150 cases have been filed for kite flying, and 118 people have been jailed for aerial firing.

The fatwa aligns with growing concerns over the injuries and fatalities caused by these activities. Sharp kite strings have led to severe injuries, while stray bullets from aerial firing have claimed numerous lives. Law enforcement authorities have pledged continued action to eliminate these threats to public safety.
Parents have been urged to actively discourage their children from participating in such harmful behaviours. Both religious leaders and law enforcement have called for community support to safeguard lives and uphold Islamic values.
