Bangladesh Expresses Interest in Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder

A high-level Bangladeshi defence delegation, headed by Lieutenant General SM Qamarul Hassan, visited Pakistan on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral military relations.

During the visit, the team met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Headquarters in Islamabad.

The discussions highlighted Pakistan’s homegrown JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, a testament to the country’s advancements in defence technology.

The JF-17 Thunder, jointly developed with China, is a cost-effective, multi-role combat aircraft renowned for its cutting-edge capabilities in both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations.

Its efficient performance and affordability have made it a desirable choice for several nations.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing military ties with Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of joint training programs and other collaborative initiatives to foster mutual growth.

Lieutenant General Hassan applauded the PAF’s progress in modernising its infrastructure and developing advanced equipment. He expressed a strong interest in the production capabilities of the JF-17 Thunder and commended Pakistan for its self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Both countries pledged to explore new avenues of cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their defence partnership, marking a step forward in fostering regional stability.
