Weather experts predict two rain spells in December, offering relief from smog and improving air quality. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), these rains may also reduce travel disruptions caused by fog.
Senior Meteorologist Imran Siddiqui explained that while November has typically remained dry in recent years, December is likely to see two rain events. Although the intensity of these rains remains uncertain, they are expected to significantly reduce smog levels, he told APP on Tuesday.

The PMD forecast indicates that the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, with colder conditions in northern regions. Fog is anticipated in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
In the past 24 hours, scattered rainfall, wind, and thunderstorms were recorded in parts of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Punjab, and upper Sindh, accompanied by snowfall in Kalam.
Rainfall measurements included 21mm in Mir Khani, 17mm in Kalam, and 6mm in Joharabad, among others. Snowfall in Kalam reached 7 inches. Meanwhile, Leh recorded the lowest temperature at -08°C, followed by Gupis and Hunza at -03°C.
The anticipated rainfall in December is expected to alleviate air quality issues and improve visibility, providing much-needed relief to residents dealing with smog and travel hazards.
