Kia Pakistan Announces Major Price Hike for Stonic

Kia Pakistan has raised the price of its subcompact crossover SUV, the Kia Stonic, by Rs. 733,000, bringing the new price to Rs. 5,550,000, up from Rs. 4,767,000. Previously, the vehicle’s ex-factory price was Rs. 6,280,000.

In April 2024, Kia announced a significant price reduction of Rs. 1,500,000 for the Stonic, which surprised the market. This price cut was particularly shocking for those who had bought the vehicle for over Rs. 6 million, whereas it was less shocking for those who purchased it under Rs. 4 million.

Kia Pakistan recently shared that the overwhelming response to their 5-year celebration led them to temporarily suspend bookings due to stock clarity issues. Bookings for the Kia Stonic EX+ have now reopened with the following conditions:

  • Starting July 1, 2024, bookings will be for deliveries in December 2024 and later.
  • A partial payment of Rs. 2.5 million is required for booking.
  • A price lock is available for orders with partial payment for deliveries in December 2024 and January 2025, subject to currency fluctuations and potential increases in duties, taxes, and levies.

It remains to be seen how the market will react to the Stonic’s new price, especially with the Suzuki Swift’s top variants still priced at Rs. 4,719,000. The competition between the two models will be interesting to watch.
