The city administration has set new prices for meat and other essential food items as Ramadan approaches, but the challenge of enforcing previous price controls remains unresolved in several areas of the metropolis.
The decision was made during a meeting led by Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, attended by deputy commissioners, Bureau of Prices and Supply officials, and other stakeholders.

Under the revised pricing, the cost of ‘A’ category qeema samosa (35 grams) has been set at Rs35 per piece, while the ‘B’ category will be available for Rs30 per piece. Similarly, ‘A’ category potato samosa (60 grams) has been priced at Rs35, whereas the ‘B’ category has been set at Rs130.
For pakoras, the price of ‘A’ category mixed fritters has been fixed at Rs600 per kg, while the ‘B’ category will cost Rs500 per kg. The price of ‘A’ category jalebi has been set at Rs500 per kg, and the ‘B’ category at Rs430 per kg.
The administration has also set new rates for meat, with boneless beef priced at Rs950 per kg, while beef with bones will cost Rs750 per kg. The price of boneless heifer meat has been fixed at Rs1,150 per kg, while heifer meat with bones will be available at Rs1,000 per kg.
The cost of mutton has been set at Rs2,000 per kg. In addition, the commissioner has also determined new prices for pulses and rice, although the specific rates were not disclosed in the meeting summary.
