Meezan Bank has issued an advisory to its customers following reports of unauthorised debit and credit card transactions on various websites. The bank advised users to avoid untrusted platforms, refrain from using public Wi-Fi for banking, and stay alert against phishing scams.

The advisory follows social media reports of fraudulent activities, with one user claiming transactions worth Rs1.4 million were charged on a Meezan Bank debit card without consent.

However, Meezan Bank clarified that there has been no data breach, emphasizing that all its cards are PCI certified and 3DSecure compliant.

The bank assured customers that disputed transactions, primarily involving unsecured e-commerce platforms, are covered under international chargeback mechanisms and are being reimbursed.

Cybersecurity experts have warned that such incidents often occur due to data breaches or phishing schemes, where scammers trick users into sharing sensitive information.

Meezan Bank advised customers to take precautions, including avoiding untrusted websites, not using public Wi-Fi for transactions, and reporting lost or stolen cards immediately.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to customer security and stated that all necessary measures are being taken to address the issue and compensate affected customers.
