Punjab to Launch Karobar Card to Support Small Businesses

The Punjab Government has unveiled several initiatives aimed at supporting small businesses, students, and underprivileged communities, with a focus on economic growth and social welfare.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during a meeting in Lahore, announced the launch of the Karobar Card Scheme to assist small business owners. Under this program, loans ranging from Rs100,000 to Rs1 million will be offered to help entrepreneurs expand their operations.

In addition, the Chief Minister Aasan Karobar Financing Scheme was introduced to support medium-sized enterprises, providing loans of up to Rs30 million, repayable over five years. The Chief Minister highlighted that these programs aim to boost employment and stimulate economic activity across Punjab.

In a series of other initiatives, the Punjab government launched the Free Solar Panel Scheme, promising 100,000 solar systems for low-income households consuming up to 200 electricity units monthly. Verified through CNICs, this initiative seeks to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions while easing the burden of federal subsidies.

Additionally, the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme will award 30,000 scholarships to university students, prioritizing women and those from Southern Punjab. Fully funded foreign education will also be offered to deserving students.

The Laptop and Merit Scholarship Program will provide 90,000 laptops to high-performing students, with distribution beginning in the next 30 days.
