Retired Lieutenant General Named Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE

Lieutenant General (retd) Muhammad Aamer has been named Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

Aamer, who recently retired after leading the Gujranwala Corps, will take over from Syed Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, who is moving to a diplomatic role in Belgium and the European Union. The Pakistani government is awaiting formal consent from the UAE for Aamer’s appointment.

Diplomatic sources have revealed that Aamer’s extensive background includes a notable role as Military Secretary to President Asif Ali Zardari during his first term. His career is marked by various influential positions in staff, instructional, and command sectors.

In related diplomatic updates, Murad Ashraf Janjua, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, has been appointed as Ambassador to Brazil and has started his new role in Brasilia. Dr. Faisal Aziz Ahmad will replace Janjua as High Commissioner to New Zealand.

Furthemore, Suljuk Mustansar Tarar, who is currently serving as Ambassador to the Netherlands, has been appointed as Ambassador to Indonesia. He will succeed Ameer Khurram Rathore, who is retiring soon.

Lastly, Aamer Shaukat, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, is set to move to Egypt to fill the position being vacated by the retiring Sajid Iqbal.
