The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) will now conduct a mandatory written test for the permanent hiring of doctors, reported a private news channel on Sunday.

The PPSC has begun recruiting 900 doctors through this new process. The written test will consist of 100 marks and will include subjects like General Knowledge, Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, and Geography.

Furthermore, the exam will feature questions on Mathematics, English, Urdu, Everyday Science, and Computer Science.

To advance to the interview stage, candidates must score at least 40 percent on the test. Previously, doctors were recruited based solely on interview performance.

On the other hand, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has announced the extension of its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program from four years to five years. According to a report, the new modular integrated curriculum will be introduced in the 2024–25 academic session.

This change was approved during the 48th meeting of the UHS Board of Studies in Dentistry, held on Friday. The meeting was chaired by UHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, according to the TV channel.
