An official from New Town police has been charged with selling 33 mobile phones and other valuables that were seized from individuals arrested on May 9.

The case was filed under the orders of Judge Malik Ijaz Asif of the Anti-Terrorism Court #1 after a police inquiry report.

The accused officer, Sadaqat Ahmed, allegedly took the items recovered from the arrests, moved them to the police station, and then sold them in the market. The FIR stated that Ahmed sold these mobile phones and other valuables within the New Town police station‘s area.

The SHO of New Town was directed to file an FIR against Ahmed and recover valuable items like vehicle registration cards, a UK work visa card, original CNICs, and debit and credit cards, which had not been submitted to the police station.

A complaint by the May 9 accused led to an inquiry by the SP Rawal Division, but no immediate action was taken against the officer. This prompted the accused to approach the court, resulting in the case being registered against the police constable, who has not yet been arrested.
