Punjab Assembly

Opposition members staged a protest following the suspension of 11 Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) members by Punjab Assembly speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan on Saturday. This action came after the members disrupted proceedings and showed disrespect towards the House.

A substantial police presence was deployed at the assembly premises to block the suspended opposition members from entering. Vehicle checks are also being conducted to enforce this restriction.

Only PML-N party members and their allies are permitted access to the Assembly amid these developments.

These events unfolded after a tumultuous session where the opposition dramatically rejected the proposed budget for the upcoming financial year. The session was marked by chaos and clashes, highlighting deep divisions within the assembly. During this session, with Maryam Nawaz in attendance, budget documents were theatrically torn apart.
