The Punjab elections, which were initially slated for April 30, have been postponed by Pakistan’s Election Commission (ECP) until October 8.
In the ruling, the ECP stated that the commission was acting in accordance with the authority granted to it by Article 218(3) read in conjunction with Sections 58 and 8(c) of the Elections Act of 2017. “hereby withdraws the election program […], and fresh schedule will be issued in due course of time with the poll date on October 8.”
Elections for the Punjab Assembly, which has been dissolved, will take place on April 30.
The electoral watchdog claimed that after considering the opinions of all parties, a conclusion was made.
