The Lahore High Court (LHC) has launched a scheme allowing eligible judicial officers across Punjab to purchase their officially allotted government vehicles at subsidized prices, benefiting around 2,000 members of the subordinate judiciary.

Under the initiative, District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, Senior Civil Judges, Civil Judges and Family Judges can buy their allotted Suzuki Alto, Toyota Corolla and Honda City vehicles for Rs250,000 to Rs350,000.

The scheme also covers judges serving in Anti-Terrorism, Accountability, Banking, FIA Special, Anti-Narcotics, Customs and Labour Courts. Judicial officers from the Punjab judiciary currently serving on deputation to the Islamabad High Court, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Constitutional Court, and the federal and provincial law ministries are also eligible.

The Lahore High Court has instructed eligible officers to submit pay orders in favor of the Registrar by July 22. The vehicles, currently assigned as official transport, will be transferred to the officers after the payment process is completed.

The Directorate of District Judiciary issued the implementation instructions through a circular dated July 11, directing all District and Sessions Judges to ensure timely compliance. The initiative has reportedly received a positive response, with court staff visiting banks to obtain pay orders following the announcement.
