The federal government has announced a reduction in petrol price while leaving the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) unchanged under its latest review of petroleum products.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the price of petrol, also known as Motor Spirit (MS), has been reduced by Rs. 4 per liter. The new price has been set at Rs. 377.78 per liter, down from the previous rate of Rs. 381.78 per liter.

Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been maintained at Rs. 380.78 per liter, with no change announced for the current review period.

The revised prices came into effect from June 6, 2026, and will remain applicable until the next fuel price adjustment by the government.

The reduction in petrol prices is expected to provide some relief to motorists, particularly owners of private vehicles and motorcycles, who are among the largest consumers of the fuel.

Petrol is widely used for daily commuting and transportation across the country, while high-speed diesel is primarily consumed by heavy transport vehicles, agricultural machinery and industrial sectors.

The government reviews petroleum prices periodically based on fluctuations in international oil markets and other pricing factors. Any future adjustments will be announced during the next scheduled review of petroleum product prices.
