The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced a temporary ban on the entry of vehicles carrying sacrificial animals on motorways ahead of Eid ul Adha.
According to an official statement issued on Sunday, the decision has been taken to improve traffic flow and ensure the safety and convenience of commuters during the Eid season.

The motorway police said overloaded, mechanically unfit, and improperly loaded vehicles transporting sacrificial animals often create traffic congestion and increase the risk of serious road accidents on motorways.
Under the new restrictions, vehicles carrying sacrificial animals will be diverted to alternative routes instead of being allowed onto motorway networks.
The NHMP said several vehicles transporting animals had previously been involved in major accidents that resulted in loss of lives and property damage.
Authorities added that the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had also been requested to establish checkpoints near motorway entry points and cattle markets to ensure effective implementation of the restrictions.
The announcement comes as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee prepares to meet for sighting the Dhul-Hijjah moon, which will determine the date of Eid ul Adha in Pakistan.
Earlier, SUPARCO had forecast that Eid ul Adha is expected to fall on May 27 this year.
