The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed telecom operators to stop increasing the prices of mobile packages on a monthly basis and instead limit such revisions to once every quarter.
According to PTA officials, telecom companies have been formally informed that price adjustments for mobile packages can now be made only on a quarterly basis. Previously, operators frequently revised package prices on a monthly basis, which drew complaints from consumers.

Under the new arrangement, telecom companies will be allowed to revise package prices after reviewing the rates of the previous year. Officials said operators may increase package prices by around 10 percent to 20 percent compared with the previous year.
The decision was taken after the regulator received a number of complaints from consumers regarding frequent increases in mobile package prices.
In response, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has implemented the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025 to regulate pricing practices in the telecom sector.
According to the new rules, telecom operators are required to obtain prior approval from PTA before launching new packages. Companies must also seek the regulator’s approval before increasing the prices of existing packages.
Officials said the measure has been introduced to ensure a more organized and balanced tariff system in the telecom sector while protecting consumers from frequent price changes.
