Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has suspended the installation of solar green meters on the directives of the Ministry of Energy.
LESCO officials said the decision will affect thousands of consumers. They noted that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had earlier approved the installation of solar green meters, but the Energy Ministry later ordered a halt to the process.

Officials said LESCO must comply with the ministry’s instructions. They added that the suspension may remain in place for one to two months.
The ban applies to both residential and industrial consumers. LESCO confirmed that it will resume the installation of solar green meters only after the Ministry of Energy issues a revised policy.
Officials also said that all other power distribution companies across the country have stopped issuing new solar connections until further notice.
