The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a province-wide ban on vehicles without “Green Stickers,” warning that such vehicles will be seized after the newly announced November 15 deadline.
EPA Director General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh said exhaust testing has been declared mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore as part of an intensified crackdown on pollution-emitting transport.
“Any vehicle found on the road without an Exhaust Testing System (ETS) certificate or green sticker after November 15 will be impounded,” he stated. “Only vehicles that meet Punjab’s environmental standards will be allowed to operate.”

Dr. Sheikh said the emission testing system was formally introduced in July 2024 to monitor and control vehicular emissions ahead of the smog season. In the first phase, enforcement targets vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015. The previous compliance deadline was August 31.
The EPA has reminded all vehicle owners that both emissions and noise testing are compulsory under provincial law. Dr. Sheikh reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy is in place against environment-damaging vehicles, warning that non-verified vehicles will face legal action and confiscation.
The agency has launched its most stringent anti-pollution campaign to date in Lahore, urging motorists to complete exhaust testing immediately to avoid penalties and vehicle seizure.
