The Punjab government has introduced mobile license vans to make it easier for citizens to obtain and renew driving licenses without the hassle of visiting traditional offices.
The initiative, launched under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, is aimed at bringing public services closer to people’s homes. Specially designed mobile police stations and licensing vans will now operate across all districts, allowing residents to complete licensing procedures at their convenience.

DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir said the vans would also visit women’s colleges and universities to ensure better access for female applicants. At the initial stage, 33 vans have been rolled out, while the fleet is expected to expand to 118 in the coming months.
To enhance accessibility for women, seven vans have been designated exclusively for female applicants and painted pink for easy recognition. Officials believe the new system will significantly cut down waiting times, reduce pressure on existing licensing centers, and create a faster, more efficient process for all citizens.
By offering services at people’s doorsteps, the reform is also expected to encourage more drivers to apply for licenses through proper channels, contributing to safer and more regulated traffic in the province.
The initiative has been described as a citizen-friendly step that aligns with the government’s broader efforts to modernize public service delivery in Punjab.
