In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian extended his condolences to the people of Pakistan over the tragic loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by ongoing floods across various regions of the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
During a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday, President Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to assist Pakistan in this time of crisis. “He also conveyed his sympathy and support to the flood-affected families over the loss of precious lives and their worldly belongings.”
Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for the Iranian president’s kind words and offer of support. “The PM thanked President Pezeshkian for his kind and thoughtful gesture and expression of solidarity at this hour of pain and suffering.”
The Prime Minister further asked that “his profound regards and good wishes be conveyed to Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei.” Both leaders also looked ahead to their meeting at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China. “The two leaders look forward to their interaction at the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.”
