KARACHI: In a collaborative effort to promote road safety and legal awareness, the Traffic Police partnered with Women on Wheels Pakistan to organise a special awareness seminar focused on educating women about traffic laws, the newly introduced e-ticketing system, and the faceless ticketing initiative.
The event saw participation from Sindh Minister for Women Development Shahina Sher Ali, DIG Traffic Karachi, Women on Wheels founder and organizer Mehreen Mushtaq Qazi, Ali Suhag, head of Sindh Police’s Accident Analysis & Research Centre, along with a large number of enthusiastic women attendees.
During the seminar, participants received comprehensive briefings on traffic regulations, recent policy updates, and key aspects of safe driving. They were also given guidance on building self-confidence, enhancing driving skills, and fostering responsible behaviour on the road. Additionally, speakers explained the step-by-step process for obtaining a driving licence and highlighted new digital measures introduced to simplify the procedure.
Speakers emphasised that “responsible and law-abiding citizens, particularly women drivers, can play a vital role in improving the city’s traffic system.”
As the event concluded, Highway Code books and safety helmets were distributed among women drivers to encourage continued learning and safe driving practices. Commemorative shields and traditional Ajraks were also presented to DIG Traffic Karachi and other special guests in recognition of their contributions.
