The Punjab School Education Department has officially extended summer vacations for both public and private schools across the province.
According to a new notification issued on August 7, 2025, all schools will now remain closed until August 31 and are scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 1.

The extension was approved by the Competent Authority in continuation of an earlier directive issued on May 20, 2025. The department has instructed District Education Authorities (DEAs) to ensure that the revised schedule is implemented in both letter and spirit.
This announcement follows recent confusion caused by a fake notification that falsely claimed an extension in school holidays. That document was shared widely on social media but was later dismissed as fake by the School Education Department.
The new official notification now confirms that an extension is indeed in effect, putting speculation to rest.
All relevant officers, including deputy commissioners and education department officials, have been directed to take necessary action to enforce the updated schedule.
With the new dates in place, academic activities are expected to resume across Punjab from September 1, bringing the summer vacation period to a formal close.
