Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has announced a major expansion of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, aiming to ease traffic on the busy M-2 route. The existing four-lane road will be widened to six lanes and extended to connect Kharian with Islamabad.

The new link is expected to reduce the travel distance between Lahore and Islamabad by around 100 kilometers, cutting journey time by nearly an hour.

The announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by the minister at the NHA Punjab Region Office. He directed officials to ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects with no compromise on construction quality.

Special attention was given to the urgent completion of the Multan Road to Ring Road corridor. Abdul Aleem Khan also emphasized the need for a 30-year forward-looking infrastructure strategy.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary for Communications, Chairman NHA, and CEO RUDA. Departmental briefings were given, and progress on ongoing projects was reviewed. The minister also issued new directives related to interchanges and infrastructure planning across Punjab.
